Designation of courses corresponding to the Certified Archivist System

The Certified Archivist System is a system in which the President of the National Archives of Japan certifies those who are recognized as having expertise as the Archivist Certified by the National Archives of Japan by meeting the following three requirements for the Archivist,  “acquisition of the necessary knowledge and skills” , “competence in research and studies”, and “practical experience” of 3 years or more. With regard to the necessary knowledge and skills for the Archivist,  the knowledge and skills specified in the “Standard of Tasks and Competencies for the Archivist “must be acquired, in 12 credits of courses offered in the master’s program of the graduate school.
For the Master’s Program in Informatics, Graduate School of Comprehensive Human Sciences and Master’s Program in Humanities, Graduate School of Business Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Tsukuba, regarding the courses for the acquisition of “knowledge and skills” specified in the “Standard of Tasks and Competencies for the Archivist”, a total of 12 credits (8 credits for general compulsory courses and 4 credits for elective compulsory courses for each degree program) have been designated, and this time, these have been approved as courses that allow students to acquire knowledge and skills necessary for the Archivist. OR: appropriate for acquiring knowledge and skills necessary for the Archivist.

Designation of courses to be taken
From among the courses offered by the Master’s Program in Informatics and Master’s Program in Humanities, the courses listed in the Appendix (Course List that teach the knowledge and skills stipulated in the “Standard of Tasks and Competencies for the Archivist” are designated. 8 credits of the courses offered by the Master’s Program in Informatics are compulsory courses, 4 credits of the courses offered by the Master’s Program in Informatics and 4 credits of the courses offered by the Master’s Program in Humanities are elective compulsory courses. The designated courses of the Master’s Program in Informatics are offered online in principle.

Graduate students and credited auditors of the University of Tsukuba

Selection of courses to be taken
8 credits of compulsory courses and 4 credits of elective compulsory courses will be taken from the Course List below; provided, however, that either 4 credits from courses offered by the Master’s Program in Informatics or 4 credits from courses offered by the Master’s Program in Humanities must be selected to take elective compulsory courses. Please note that credits earned prior to AY 2022 will not be considered.

Course requirements
・Valid from the credits acquired from AY 2023 onward. Other recognized credits will not be admitted.
・The prescribed credits from the courses listed in the Course List within 4 years from the first credit acquisition should be earned.
・Credits for courses earned as a credited auditor should be applied for with a transcript of credits earned as a credited auditor, even if the previously earned credits are recognized after admission to graduate school.

Proof of credit acquisition
Transcripts or CERTIFICATE (transcript of credits) should be used to prove that you have earned credits for the courses you have taken.
