Prof. Cecilia Cheng, from Department of Psychology, the University of Hong Kong, had a courtesy visit to the Dean of Institute of Library, Information and Media Science and the Chair of Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Informatics Degree Programs in Comprehensive Human Sciences.

On June 19, 2024, Prof. Cecilia Cheng, from Department of Psychology, the University of Hong Kong, had a courtesy visit to the Dean of Institute of Library, Information and Media Science and the Chair of Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Informatics Degree Programs in Comprehensive Human Sciences.

Prof. Cheng is a leading expert on media use and mental health and collaborates with Associate Prof. Ye of Institute of Library, Information and Media Science.

On the same day, Prof. Cheng gave a lecture entitled “From Play to Obsession: Decoding Gaming Disorder in the Digital World.” In the lecture, Prof. Cheng humorously explained her research findings on gaming disorder and educational programs for elementary school students and their parents that utilize their findings. Approximately 40 faculty members and students attended this lecture, and actively participated in a lively Q&A session.

A delegation from Wuhan University visited Univ. of Tsukuba

A delegation (5 faculty members and 8 students) from the School of Information Management, Wuhan University, China, visited the University of Tsukuba and conducted a laboratory visit, FD workshop, and joint student workshop.
Wuhan University School of Information Management is China’s top education and research organization in the field of library and information, with the longest history, largest size, and international reputation in China.

On Monday, July 10, 2023, a student workshop was held. Students from Master’s and Doctoral Program in Informatics and the School of Information Management at Wuhan University each gave a presentation about their own universities and engaged in a lively Q&A session.

On Tuesday, July 11, 2023, we held a joint workshop with faculty and students of the School of Information Management, Wuhan University, where international research exchanges were held between Japanese and Chinese faculty and students on a variety of topics including AI technology, social robotics, digital culture, and manga culture etc.

This visit is expected to promote international research and educational cooperation between the Master’s and Doctoral Program in Informatics and related educational organizations and Master’s and Doctoral Program in Informatics.
