Graduate students have the opportunity to assist in classes at undergraduate schools and graduate schools as TAs (Teaching Assistants).
In addition to being TAs, graduate students in the doctoral program also have opportunities to participate in classes as TFs (Teaching Fellows) with faculty members in charge of classes, and opportunities to conduct joint research with faculty members as RAs (Research Assistants).

How to Apply for Teaching Assistant (TA) Posts in the Fall Semester of AY 2024 (Updated 2024.7.8)
Students who wish to work as a TA in the fall semester of AY 2024 should refer to the “TA Recruitment Course List in the Fall Semester of AY 2024” and after consulting with your academic advisor, contact the “TA contact faculty member” and obtain approval.
Students who have been made a job offer should submit the required documents by the submission deadline.

University-Wide TA Workshop
Students who are assigned to be TAs are required to attend the University-Wide TA Workshop.
Those who participated in the TA workshop before AY 2022 are also required to attend.
If you cannot confirm your participation, you cannot be assigned to be the TA.
*Students planning to enroll in October 2024 should take this course after enrolling in graduate school.

INFOSS Information Ethics
Students who are assigned to be TAs are required to complete the INFOSS Information Ethics course.
Current students who have not completed the course should pass the completion test before applying for TA.

Required documents for TA appointment
1. Application [WORD] [PDF]
・Be sure to obtain the approval and seal from your academic advisor and TA contact faculty member.
・If it is difficult to get a seal from a faculty member, please contact the Graduate Academic Affairs.
・Consult and check with your TA contact faculty member in advance regarding working arrangements.
2. Student ID card (copy)
・Copy both sides of your student ID card on one side of an A4 size sheet.
・Students planning to enroll in October 2024 do not need to submit this form.
3. Registration of payees, etc.
・Please register your payee to the payee application system by [Friday, October 4, 2024].

4. For the 2024 Application for (Change in) Exemption for Dependents of Employment Income Earner [PDF]
・Please print on both sides (short edge binding).
・Please fill in the address registered on your resident card.
・If there are any changes in the information (address, dependent status, etc.), please resubmit to the Graduate Academic Affairs.
・Students who have submitted to the University of Tsukuba or other offices after January 1, 2024 do not need to submit.
5. Individual number (My number) confirmation document (copy)
・Students who have already submitted to the University of Tsukuba do not need to submit again.
・Students who have not submitted should contact the Graduate Academic Affairs Office. You will be given an envelope for submission.

After TA work
You are required to submit a TA work completion report in manaba. Details will be communicated as soon as possible.

Research Assistant (RA) Recruitment for AY 2023
We are recruiting research assistants (RAs) for those who applied for the Special Fellows DC2 for AY 2024 and for those who applied for the Special Fellows DC1 for AY 2023 but were not hired.
If you wish to be entrusted with RA duties, please ask your academic advisor to submit the “RA Candidate Recommendation Form” to the Research Support Office, Academic Service Office for the Library, Information and Media Sciences Area on the 3rd floor by 17:00 on Monday, May 29 (The RA Candidate Recommendation Form is available to academic advisors. For other details, please check with your academic advisor. ).
Points to note when recruiting
*Entrusted RAs will be paid an honorarium for conducting research assistance work. This academic year, the monthly unit price is set at 40,000 yen (approximately 27 hours per month).
*This recruitment is for students in the doctoral course.
(Students who are on leave of absence or planning to take a leave of absence during the RA research assistance period are not eligible. In addition, if you take a leave of absence during the RA research assistance period after being entrusted as an RA, your RA post will be withdrawn from the month in which you took a leave of absence. Working individuals must confirm that their employer allows side jobs before proceeding.)* 2023 JST “Next Generation Researcher Challenging Program (SPRING)” adopters can also apply.
